Tab NZ, a New Zealand wagering agency, has been announced as FIFA's inaugural gambling sponsor for the Women's World Cup 2023, according to reports in Australia.
Between July and August, FIFA will advertise Tab in four stadiums in New Zealand. Dunedin Stadium, Eden Park, Waikato Stadium, and Wellington Regional Stadium comprise the four stadiums.
Tab paid the national football federation NZ$2.4m (US$1.5m) last year and returns a commission to sports it takes wagers on.
"We are delighted to welcome Tab to our ever-growing family of supporters and sponsors for this year's groundbreaking FIFA Women's World Cup," stated Luis Rodriguez, Head of Partnership Sales at FIFA.
"The hosting of the world's largest women's sporting event offers an exceptional opportunity to engage football and sports enthusiasts in Aotearoa New Zealand. Given that Tab has substantial plans in this area both prior to and during the tournament, we are grateful for their assistance in generating even more excitement in one of our host countries."
"We have consistently prioritised the development of the sport industry in New Zealand," stated Jodi Williams, Chief Marketing and Customer Officer at Tab NZ. "In the previous year, Kiwis bet with Tab, resulting in over $12 million being transferred to the sport sector."
"With this in mind and the potential of the tournament to generate significant growth in participation for women's football in New Zealand, it was a natural fit for Tab to become an official supporter of New Zealand in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023."
