Entain data: UK gamblers demonstrate a lack of confidence in England's chances of winning the Euro 2024.

As Euro 2024 advances, new data from Entain indicates that only 20% of UK wagers are supporting England, despite the Three Lions' secure top spot in Group C.

In contrast, Portuguese supporters exhibited the highest level of patriotism, with 60% of their bets placed on their home team. Spain, Germany, and France followed, with 49%, 44%, and 30%, respectively.

Jude Bellingham's goal secured the only victory for the Three Lions in England's opening match against Serbia, which was the most heavily bet-on yet.

Entain's examination of its UK sportsbooks, Ladbrokes and Coral, also demonstrated that the proportion of outright wagers on England to win the tournament has declined from 21% in 2021 to 13% in 2024.

This decrease implies that British gamblers have lost confidence in their team following a subpar group stage performance.

In comparison to the same period in 2021, the number of outright bets placed by UK customers has more than doubled (121%) for Euro 2024, suggesting that football supporters are more engaged.

Jamie MacDonald, Head of Sportsbook Analytics at Entain, commented on these trends, stating, "There is no denying that the Three Lions have had a lacklustre start to Euro 2024." That is precisely the pattern that the betting data is indicating. This is in stark contrast to the most patriotic nations, such as Portugal, Spain, and Germany, where supporters are supporting their home teams.
